In 2004 we were treated to a life changing experience by a group of Tibetan teenagers and the people who devote their lives to them. After summiting Mount Everest in 2001 Erik Weihenmayer received an email from an extraordinary woman in Tibet. Sabriye Tenberken lost her eyesight at about the same time and age as Erik. Still, she was determined to have a full and rewarding life. She traveled to Tibet on her own, and with the help of Paul Kronenberg (who she met in Tibet), created a school for blind children in Lhasa- Braille Without Borders.

When Sabriye heard that a Erik had climbed Mount Everest, she and the kids decided to email him and invite him for a visit. When Erik received the email he decided to do more than just visit, he brought his Everest team and took the kids climbing. From there the story snowballed and the film "Blindsight" came into being. Blindsight is a true testament to the talents of editor Sebastian Duthy who devoted 16 months to the film. Sabriye Tenberken (2006 Mother Theresa Award Winner and 2005 Nobel Peace Prize nominee) tells more of this incredible story in her new book "Das Siebte Jahr" (Still only in German, soon to be published in English).
